Tenth Anniversary of Intercollegiate Relationship of A&F and TUM Held
On the morning of September 27th, Ceremony of Tenth Anniversary of Intercollegiate Relationship of A&F and TUM was held in Room 208 of International Center of Cooperation and Exchange of Northwest A&F University. Vice President of Technical University of Munich(TUM) Prof. Liqiu Meng, Director of Life and Food Engineering Research Center Prof. Reinhard Mosandl, Researcher Hany El Kateb, Prof. Anton Fischer from College of Forestry Science and Resource Management, economist of natural resource Ulrich Schmitt from the World Bank and two Ph.D students attended the ceremony. The two universities signed cooperative agreement on the basis of cooperation memorandum in 2000 which extended the intercollegiate cooperation between the two universities such as in food engineering, agricultural engineering, information technology, resources and environment, humanities and so on.
Vice Director of Shaanxi Provincial Department of Forestry Mr. Yan Hong, Vice Director of Administrative Committee of Yangling Demonstration Zone Mr. Liu Qing, Vice President of TUM Ms. Liqiu Meng and President of the A&F Mr. Sun Wuxue addressed at the ceremony respectively. Executive Vice President of the A&F Mr. Zhao Zhong chaired the ceremony.
Vice President of TUM Ms. Liqiu Meng said that, TUM is a comprehensive university that combines natural science and social science together. Under the principle of continuous innovation and special disciplines, TUM is stepping into a higher level. Various disciplines in TUM attract increasing numbers of international students to further study there. She welcomed more students of the A&F to visit and study in TUM and strengthen the friendship between the two universities.
In the symposium, 15 experts from China and Germany had a wide and deep discussion and exchange on the idea of sustainable forestry management, the study on species recovery of natural wood in Loess Plateau, Project of Sino-European Natural Forestry management and its inspiration, sustainable idea of areas of China and Europe, understanding to sustainable forestry management of Shaanxi Province, financial aid from the World Bank to the development of forest in China-experience and prospect, study on the improvement of sustainable management practice of forest in Qinling Mountain, the exploitation of resources of woody oil plants in northwest of China, etc.
After the symposium, the participants also visited the field experimental base in Changwu County and Yongshou County, Shaanxi Province.
