College of Economics and Management of Northwest A & F University was formed in July 2000 on the basis of the amalgamation of former College of Economics and Trade of Northwest Agricultural University, Department of Economics and Management of Northwest Forestry College and Institute of Agricultural Economy of Shaanxi Academy of Agricultural Science. The college is dated from Teaching and Research Section of Agricultural Economics of the National Northwest Junior College of Agriculture and Forestry established in 1936.

At present, the college has 127 staff members, including 16 professors, 25 associate professors, 12 doctoral supervisors and 24 master’s supervisors,24 with doctoral degree and 39 with master’s degree, 1 member of the Discipline Accreditation Group of the State Council Academic Degree Commission ,4  experts enjoying special governmental subsidies , 2 supported by Shaanxi “Three - Five Talent ”Project. The college programs 1 postdoctoral research station of Agricultural and Forestry Economics and Management, 1 Level I disciplines which offers PhD program on Agricultural and Forestry Economics and Management and 7 Level II disciplines which offers PhD programs on Agricultural Economics and Management(state key discipline), Forestry Economics and Management (provincial key discipline),Rural Finance, Rural Human Resources Management, Agricultural Products International Trade and Policy, Agriculture and Rural Development. The college also provides 10 master’s degree programs , namely Agricultural Economics and Management, Forestry Economics and Management, Finance, Agricultural Technological Economics and Project Management, Agriculture and Rural  Development, Land Resource Management, Regional Economics, Management Science and Engineering, Accounting, and Corporate Management, and 12 programs for undergraduate students on Agricultural / Forestry Economy Management, Finance, Economics, Accounting, Land Resources Management, Business Administration, E-commerce, International Economics and Trade, Public Utilities Management, Tourism Management, Marketing and Insurance. Currently, the college has an enrollment of 2836 full-time degree candidates, including 612 postgraduates.

The college consists of 5 departments, 6 institutes (centers) and 1 laboratory. They are Department of Accounting, Department of Finance, Department of Economics, Department of Business Administration and Agricultural and Forestry Economics & Management and Public Administration, Research Center of Rural Development in Western China, Institute of Rural Finance, Institute of Rural Economy, Institute of Forestry Economy, Information center, College Service Center and Comprehensive Laboratory. The college has already cultivated over 8500 undergraduates and 578 graduates (186 PhDs).

In recent 5 years, the college has undertaken 80 national and provincial research projects and 8 international cooperation research projects. 12 programs received ministerial and provincial Awards of Science and Technology Progress and Social Science Outstanding Achievements Awards. Over 900 academic papers and 50 books are published. Besides, the college has established stable exchange and cooperation relationships with 10 famous universities in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Austria, Germany, the USA and Japan, etc.
