Department of Physical Education
Department of Physical Education of Northwest A&F University was established on July 21, 2000, merged by the Physical Education Section of formal Northwest Agricultural University and the Physical Education Teaching and Research Section of the Northwest Forestry University. At present, the department has 51 staff members, of whom 41 are full time teachers including 6 with master’s degree. There are 4 professors and 13 associate professors, 15 lecturers and 9 teaching assistants, 5 national referee titles, 72 national level I referee titles.
The department has 1 administrative office, 4 teaching sections, 1 contest room, 1 gymnasium management office, 1 bridge teaching and research section and the 1 physical standards testing center. There are also 3 standard 400-meter athletic fields including 2 full-plastic ground ones , 1 gymnasium, 1 outdoor playground, 1 swimming pool, 39 basketball courts, 28 volleyball courts, 3 football fields, 131 tables for table tennis , 6 tennis courts, with total area of 113,241 square meters.
In 1992, the university won the title of “Excellent University” in the Assessment for P.E. Curriculum in University and College in China and got the title again for implementation of Physical Education Working Regulations in College in Shaanxi in 2001. Currently, Department of Physical Education is the member of China Sports Science Society (CSSS), the director unit of Physical Education Committee for Higher Agricultural University in the Northwest. Shaanxi Bridge Training Base, Shaanxi Swimming Teachers Training Base and Shaanxi Pool Lifeguards Training Base are also attached to the department.
